INTRODUCED by the Technical Committee for Standardization TK 403 "Explosion-proof and mining electrical equipment"
2 ACCEPTED AND PUT INTO EFFECT by the Decree of the State Standard of Russia on December 9, 1999 No. 491-st
3 This standard is the authentic text of the international standard IEC 60079-0-98 “Explosion-proof electrical equipment. Part 0. General requirements "with additional requirements that reflect the needs of the country's economy
4 INTRODUCED FOR THE FIRST TIME
Introduction
This standard is fundamental in the set of state standards for explosion-proof electrical equipment, developed on the basis of the application of international standards TC 31 IEC "Electrical equipment for explosive gas atmospheres".
This standard, developed on the basis of IEC 60079-0-98, sets out general technical requirements and test methods for explosion-proof electrical equipment, regardless of the types of explosion protection implemented in it, with the exception of clauses that are limited in the standards for specific types of explosion protection.
1 area of use
This standard applies to explosion-proof products covered by the activities of the International Electrotechnical Commission: explosion-proof electrical and instrument engineering products, products for information technology and others (hereinafter - explosion-proof electrical equipment (electrical equipment).
The standard establishes general requirements for the design, testing and marking of explosion-proof electrical equipment, Ex-cable glands, Ex-components of explosion-proof electrical equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres of gas, vapor or mist.
This standard specifies the safety requirements for electrical equipment directly related to the ignition hazard of the surrounding explosive atmosphere.
The standard is supplemented or amended by standards for specific types of explosion protection:
- flameproof enclosure ("d");
- filling or purging the shell under excess pressure ("p");
- quartz filling of the shell ("q");
- oil filling of the shell ("o");
- protection type "e";
- sparks () safe electrical circuit ("i");
- sealing with a compound ("m");
- protection type "n";
- special type of protection "s".
This standard and standards for the explosion protection of specific types of electrical equipment do not apply to electrical medical devices, explosive devices, devices for testing electric detonators and explosive circuits.
The requirements of this standard are mandatory.
Additional requirements, as well as requirements that differ from the requirements of IEC 60079-0-98, reflecting the needs of the country's economy, are shown in italics in the text.
